My Story

By Christopher M. Michaud

Where I Come From

I was born and raised in Montreal, shaped by neighbourhoods like NDG, the West Island, and Saint-Bruno. Later in life, I spent years in both Toronto and Ottawa, giving me a coast-to-coast understanding of the people, the pressures, and the promise of this country.

A Life of Building, Learning, and Starting Again

I’ve spent my life building things, businesses, creative work, ideas, and teams. Along the way, I’ve had successes I’m proud of and losses that taught me just as much. What I love most about Canada is the quiet promise at the heart of this country, the understanding that when life sets you back, you are never finished. Here, resilience is respected, effort is meaningful, and progress is measured not by perfection but by the courage to keep moving forward.

The Covid-19 pandemic became a catalyst in my life. It pushed me into a kind of personal walkabout that changed how I saw my journey and my country. Living in Ottawa, in Rockcliffe, close to the day to day workings of our federal government, I found myself paying deeper attention to what Canada was becoming and what Canadians were facing.

My career has carried me through the arts, media, hospitality, and entrepreneurship. Everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve worked alongside everyday Canadians, people doing their best for their families and communities. Those experiences shaped how I see this country and the challenges so many are facing today.

Why I Founded the UCC

I created the United Canadian Centrists because I believe most Canadians stand in the middle. We aren’t extremists. We want cooperation, decency, stability, and common sense. That belief led me to create the philosophy of Canadianism, built on five guiding pillars:

1. Respect

Treating each other with dignity and fairness.

2. Responsibility

Contributing to the strength of our shared national home.

3. Stability

Ensuring a steady foundation and reliable institutions for all Canadians.

4. Common Sense

Grounding decisions in practical reality rather than political theatre.

5. Belonging

Making sure every Canadian feels included and valued.

A New Option for Canadians Who Feel Unrepresented

Too many Canadians feel politically homeless; unsatisfied, unserved, and unheard. The UCC exists to offer a real alternative. I’m asking Canadians to send us to Parliament on probation, to allow us to earn trust through action, integrity, and results.

If Canadians send enough UCC voices to Ottawa to hold the balance of power, we can force cooperation, centre the conversation, and bring government back to the people it’s supposed to serve.

Looking Forward

As a father and grandfather, I feel a responsibility to the generations that will inherit this country. My mission with the UCC is simple: rebuild Canada’s foundation, strengthen the centre, and ensure every Canadian has the opportunity to live the full Canadian experience.

This is my story.

And it’s why I’m committed to building something better - together.
